Becoming a Member

Belonging to a church is both a gift and a responsibility. It is more significant by far than membership at any club or gym. The members of your church are like a spiritual family. They’re the people you can turn to in sorrow and joy. They pray with you and for you. They care for you and serve you; they love you. Benefits like this are not cheap. They demand genuine commitment. Hence, becoming a member at South Side involves a thorough but straightforward three-step process.

Prerequisites

Candidates for membership must first provide a credible testimony of salvation and have scriptural baptism. We require a written testimony of salvation and baptism to ensure that all candidates meet these criteria.

Requirements

Truth matters. Even brethren cannot strive together for the faith of the gospel unless they agree on basic doctrine and polity. Therefore, all candidates for membership must also read and sign our doctrinal statement.

Responsibilities

South Side is a covenanted church. We make and regularly renew solemn vows to each other before the Lord. To enter into that sacred trust, all candidates for membership must pledge to fulfill the church covenant.
